Meet Daxton Wilde

In May of 2000, Scott and Sherry Wilde rushed their 4 year-old boy, Daxton, to Primary Children's Medical Center because of sever head pains. Doctors discovered a large cancerous tumor in Daxton's brain and diagnosed Daxton with a medulloblastoma. Daxton bravely battled cancer, experiencing numerous highs and lows, and rarely complained about any procedure or treatment. During his illness, Daxton spent much of his treatment at home with his family where he worked on writing and illustrating the book I'm a Super Hero with the help of his mother. His experiences demonstrated unfailing optmism and bravery. Daxton's legacy continues to provide readers with an understanding of cancer treatments from the perspective of a child. I'm a Super Hero is the recipient of numerous book awards, including the International Reading Association's Teacher's Choice Booklist for 2006.
